Subacromial impingement
Pain when lifting the arm is often related to shoulder and scapular mechanics. Improving movement control and strength is usually key.
Subacromial impingement is a shoulder pain pattern often triggered by lifting the arm, fastening a bra or reaching. Pain is commonly felt on the outer side of the shoulder and may worsen at night.
It is often associated with rotator cuff overload, reduced scapular control, thoracic stiffness and forward-shoulder posture. Sudden training changes or overhead work can trigger symptoms.
If not addressed, it can reduce mobility and strength, limit sport and household tasks and increase night pain. Compensation in the neck and upper back can add overall tension.
At Kinésica we combine manual therapy and movement retraining: osteopathy to improve thoracic and shoulder-complex mobility, manual manipulations when indicated, plus muscle-chain work and RPG to improve posture and scapular mechanics.
Assessment covers range of motion, cuff strength and scapular control. Sessions progress with specific exercise, load dosing and guidance to return to training gradually.
Approach at Kinésica
Treatment prioritizes mechanics and progressive load tolerance.
